I think the hype of those is just about over. I doubt you'd be able to sell them for too much more than face.

Not so sure your rolls out of the billions available are going to make you money at this point.

I've heard people complain about not being able to get these out west.

Generally it is about this time of year the Philly Fed is shipping surpluses to Denver and vice versa. These will slowly work into LA & SF within months, whole boxes will show up in some outlets. I've found that in Dec/Jan whole boxes in my smaller branch banks in Central MO show up. Patience wins the race ya know. Why pay premium for a 90% chance of failed rinse water spots which seems to be the case of the shield cents being produced this past decade. Also, I really wonder about this "errors for sale" phenomenon. These type errors, DDR, cracks, Cuds and cruds has only picked up with the introduction of "Cheerypickers guide" & Get rich quick on your pocket change" books of fables, IMHO! These are nothing more than the standard product of coin making, a common occurrence when you consider the BILLIONS of coins minted. Error value for the true error collector is dependent on its rarity in the marketplace. I sense this "fad" will diminish once the masses begin realizing the reality of the matter. For instance, RPM's, only the rarest or most vivd examples as rated by attribution services command top dollar, the rest of the tens of thousands are quite meager, listed at $2.75, but only sold for 1/8 that in the marketplace. Your box of shiny new "penny's" by December 31st will still be worth $25...hope that's what you paid!

You'll go nuts looking at the same coins over and over again.

Lol. I know I went through a box of 2016 sheilds and couldn't stand to look at them anymore before I was done with one box. Going to try selling some.

Newbie, answer to question @phasing out ole abe, nothing has ever been officially stated as to the end. Rumors fly, the P mark " signifies its death", costs too much, etc. For starters, the "mint" can't determine squat about which coin is made or stopped. That requires an act of Congress, don't know of any after midnight bills about coins going through lately, do you? There are many folks here on CCF well in the know, we'd be among the first to know. There are reasons to terminate the cent, and nickel, and dime...and maybe sooner than later we'll have a world cash card, seems to be the direction its headed, no need for "national" coins or currencies either.
