Generally the mint tolerance is 0.13 grams. As long as there isn't any gunk (debris) stuck to the coins, you probably have an overweight planchette. It would be highly unlikely to find a 1983 copper, let alone an underweight one.

Just how accurate is your scale? Most scales made to register in tenths have a tendency to round up the hundredths. For instance a 2.72g(within tolerance) may possibly register as 2.8g. A copper planchet at .13 low from standard 3.11 would be 2.98g and el cheepo would round to 3.0g....which I have found fairly often. Very seldom have a zincolns at 2.7g and read it on another at 2.62g
