I found this a couple days ago going through and sorting my huge mix pile of Wheat cents, Canadian coins, and World coins. Is this a real clip or not? I see tapering on the rims, but no Blakesley effect and the clips are also absent on the reverse side of the coin. I think it's real, but want to know what the others think.

Don't think so, possibly one by date. By liberty doesn't have enough parabola evenly, seems a wearing/rubbing of some sort. By the 8 the angle is wrong, too straight across the rim, should be curving. Also there should be effect on reverse opposite butvis too strongly/evenly struck.?

BINGO! Bet it was/in a "penny loafer" shoe tongue...the wearing of the leather across the rims would be that way!

Thank you for answering. I had a feeling that it wasn't real. I throw it back in my sorted pile of Wheat cents.

Looks like a couple of minor clipped areas on an incomplete planchet.

Thanks Coop. I'll hold onto it until it's ruled out to be a Clipped Planchet.
