newbie, I'm not sure about being a fake, it looks more like a Dryer Coin than a fake to me.I don't think it would be worth the time and effort for any counterfeiter to produce a fake 1981 Nickel, that's just my humble opinion.Could you please post the reverse image?

Right, one side 1981-P the other side 1994-P. Looks like 2 real nickles machined and joined somehow - maybe a Magician's coin.

Wheatbackpenny is correct. The obverse I think. Was bored out and the obverse of another coin was bored out and shaved down to fit inside the rim of the first obverse and the the rim was folded over the obverse of the obverse of the first coin....Wait or was it the second obverse that was rolled over the obverse of.....OHHH darn I just lost it! LOL!

Anyway this is 1 pic of each side of the same coin!
Rest in Peace

Nice Magician's coin there! There was a joke shop near where I grew up that sold these for $5 each. In many, many boxes of nickels, I have only ever found one, a 1972-D/1992-P.

Some woman at the local credit union was saving half dollar like these and was going to turn them in to the secret service because they were counterfeit.

That's as bad as the people that get arrested for paying with a 2$ bill.

I was dumping half dollars at the time. She came up and told me to watch for the counterfeit halves. I asked her what she was talking about. She explained them to me then I had to explain to her what they were. I told her I always kept them when I found them. I usually just give them to some kid.
