I have 18 coins that I want to submit to PCGS for grading. There is a well known dealer named Harry Laibstain in Norfolk VA who offers PCGS submission for $15 per coin for economy service plus shipping and insurance.

I have never dealt with him and I was wondering if you had any thoughts about using this type of service. The cost seems very low compared to submitting directly. About $300 vs. ~$500.

He asks to get first dibs on making an offer on stuff I want to sell, and that seems fair in exchange.

Anything to look out for or do in such transactions? Thanks!

Do it. Harry Laibstain is as reputable as they come, and that's a very fair deal, $5/coin under PCGS' normal charge. He's a high-end dealer who could easily swing that sort of blanket discount with PCGS.

Check out his website. He's got a terrific eye for coins.

Thanks. I agree that he is a very high end dealer.

The other thought I had is that there are some folks here that believe that who submits to the TPG has a bearing on the grade attained. I don't know if that is true or not but thinking that it wouldn't hurt that a large volume customer of the TPG was tendering the coins for grading.

There's no truth to the rumors that dealers get better grades, they only get better fee prices when they submit enough. I prefer to submit myself, but if I was going to use someone else it would be someone like Harry
Rest in Peace

Numismatic student, did you end up sending any coins to Harry Laibstain? If so, how did it work out? Any issues?

I know this thread is a little inactive, but the info here about Harry was amazingly helpful. I've had some coins for a while that I wanted to have graded but have always been discouraged by all the fees.
