I bought this off of ebay for 19.16. This amazing example shows the Blakesley Effect on both sides which means it has been through the rimming process. Rare type of clip and what is even better is it's on a more modern Lincoln Cent, making this error more scarce. MS Uncirculated condition. Not your average or usual Clipped Planchet you see. You don't see this type of Clip happen too often. Errers and Varietys.

Thank you Mark. This is one of the nicest examples I've ever seen. It's that type of coin that you will never see again. I wonder if the original owner pulled it out of a Mint sewn bag of pennies?

For this one, I have questions. Is the rim/edge out-of-round in the "Blakesley effected" area? It looks to be and should not be. It looks artificially flattened to imitate the real Blakesley Effect. Also, if I gather correctly, $19.16 seems a bit high for this. Is that what you meant? I'm not sold on this being legit. Can you post a pic of the clip edge?

Sure. I'll show you the edge. If this isn't real, then I'll have to get my money back on it. I hope the pictures will do it's justice. If not, I'll take better pictures. 19.16is exactly what I paid for this.

Quote: Is the rim/edge out-of-round in the "Blakesley effected" area? It looks to be and should not be. That could be but I've found in coin collecting there are almost always exceptions to the "rules". If fake then it's pretty sad that you can't even buy clips anymore without having to worry.

It's legit. See how the rim tapers off toward the clip? That's often a more reliable diagnostic, since Blakesley effect on straight clips doesn't usually show as well as on curved clips. I'm sure the "out-of-round" is just an illusion of the weaker rim.
Also, zinc isn't showing, so it wasn't cut post-mint.

SlueExe97, thank God it's legit. Luckily, I was right. If I wasn't, then I would have to get a refund for it.

The plated edge is the real clue. If it were PSD, then it would not be plated. Nice find.

CoinCentsLady, I'm happy that it's real and I did pay a lot for it, but it was worth as you won't see another one like it again. Coop, thank you for solving this one.
