1944 Lincoln Wheat Penny.. Damage Or Error? Please Help!

I have this 1944 penny that appears to have something similar to the letter "L" where the "R" should be in the word TRUST. Has anyone else seen anything like this before? Any information/opinions are greatly appreciated.

I agree with RoyCoinBoy. You can see how it pushed up against the metal. PMD. But always keep up the search as there easily could be surprises in CRH.

I'll say just a result from the rim damage also - Looks like whatever hit the rim also hit the R and pushed the metal down.

, note the remaining metal at bottom of deformed R. Looks like a "road rash" coin, found in street or parking lot
