@Realeswatcher
Thank you for your comments.
As your name, and your detailed response suggest, you are far more knowledgeable than I in this matter. (quite possibly in other matters as well).
My initial reaction was based on circumstance and not believing in my good fortune. The reason I did an about-face after weighing it, I thought this to be a replica not a counterfeit. I assumed that a replica would make zero effort to match weight and composition. When the weight matched up- I realized that it was not a replica, now I began to wonder if it is genuine or a fake.
You say it is nothing earth-shattering in regard to price.
What would you value this coin at retail? Surely more than a few dollars...
Lastly, what else was in the lot?
I do not want to make ppl jealous, but holey moley. I bought a box without searching it. The seller is a guy I have a great relationship with, and I know he does not search the boxes, nor does he have a clue what is in them. I have made some AMAZING finds in his boxes in the past. (Only got burned once.) I paid $170 for the box. Some highlights

1889 Canada Quarter Key date 66K mintage F or better condition. Going on the Bay soon.

About $9 face value Canadian silver.

1882 H NFLD Half Dollar Also going on the Bay.

This 1750 which may be genuine....

Several silver world coins.

Hundreds of cents mixed Wheat and Indian. (including a 1864 bronze and other 1800's)

Lastly, hours of fun.
