Bah...still on the hunt. It's showing some fairly good signs of doubling though...anyone think the same? Crazyb0?

Think its a 1972D-1DO-003 (WDDO-003) on Coppercoins. My matching points are IBERT are "fat", some in motto are same W , S, 2nd T. Problem I'm having is with U. that shows a certain rotation not clearly seen on CC, haven't checked Wexlers. The date and mm seem the same as well. On your is there a die chip inside mm lower right?

The 1972D-1DO-003 is not the same as this coins die. This one looks like it is showing Master Die Doubling. The 003 is a normal die without the MDD.

The 'L' on the OP's coin looks like MD on the LIBERTY.

Coop, if you're still viewing: the B in liberty the E in we, and you in trust aren't what I'm used to seeing in MDD, thought lower portion of B was MDD?..was there more than one doubled working master die?

Please excuse, no computer yet, all files inaccessible at the moment to reaaly check.

@crazyb0: yes there is a die chip in MM lower right. Fantastic detective work. So I'm assuming this is a LDS of DDO-003?

Look a few posts up, I'm waiting on a reply from Coop, he's the REAL expert here. He says Master die doubling, which is a common event since this master die produced dies for all three mints...that is why its not considered a true doubled die, its everywhere. My problem at the moment is my computer's toast. All files are safe, but am working on making a new one, so all examples and tools I use I can't access at moment. I had put in mind certain features of 1972 MDD, since it was so common. The items noted above are different than those in my head...that's why question are there more than one working hub involved. Helps when you know process of die making.. I'll probably have to PM him later about this... I do think that 003 is "closet" match, if you look at examples on coppercoins, see if you can match your coin with these: W & E in WE, UST in trust, IBER in liberty (thick?), the lower leg of 9, the 72, and try to cross grid mintmark location.

Gotta do grocery shopping, outta food, I'll check in later this evening...love a good mystery!

Thanks Crazyb0, it SEEMS to match 003, but if it's MDD then it's fairly common right? I checked and cross checked cc and wexler's btw.
