I like that coin in any grade. I'm with the rest of the crowd in the AU53 range.

*******UPDATE*********

I sent this to ANACS last month, and the results are in:

AU-53 Altered Surfaces

Ouch! My only guess is that they felt the dark toning was unnatural? I'm bummed, but financially still in ok shape.

So, would this be a candidate for a crackout, dip, and resubmit?

Dang.

What would you 'dip' it into that the TPGS wouldn't notice?

Who would you send it to if you broke the slab?

Lovely coin btw, not ugly at all

I would not try to fix it, preferring to cut my losses and move on to a more acceptable example.

I wouldn't. I think an improper dipping in the coin's past is what generated the coin's problem designation.

If you're happy enough with the coin as is, let it be. If you're unhappy with it, I would suggest selling it or trading it in for a coin you prefer.

I think I'd leave well enough alone.
