Were these sold out in minutes? I am a Platinum Prestige Master Club member which mean that anyone who has that tier should get first crack at the set. I didn't have a chance at it at all. I'm guessing good old Steven Bromberg has the majority of the sets and will probably sell them in his store and/or the Shopping Channel. What's the point of spend $10,000 or more and still can't even buy what you want. Nothing seems to interest me at RCM anymore. Basically all repeats just larger or different color. I'm done buying.
Rest in Peace

As I'm posting, it says that you posted your comment 1hr 37min ago. I was advised of this set for sale at 9:01 AM via email. I did some math, and decided that I too am pretty much done with the NCLT. (I've been thinking this way since Bugs Bunny and Superman coins).

Anyway, my email said:

Quote:
Here is your Advance Notice for the 2018 Big Coin Series featuring the Voyageur dollar and the Penny.
The mintage has been significantly reduced compared to last year by 650 sets.
For this reason, this set will be offered on a first come first served basis only.
Please reply to this email as quickly as possible to secure your set and I will do my very best to reserve you a set.
Payment plans won't be available for this subscription. These coins are only available as a subscription.
at 9:01 EDT.

I'm guessing the majority were for TSC.

The penny is the only one that interests me....if they don't sell all the sets and have some single penny's around I'll be here but if they don't want my $550+ I guess that's there loss too.

For anyone living in BC like me (or insert province here other than Manitoba) and who doesn't care about RCM master levels...I order through Gatewest Coins (Manitoba) if there is a new issue from the RCM and get charged GST if applicable, no tax for pure bullion coins and avoid the BC 7% tax which is applied to everything. Also get some $$ off due to Gatewest's point system.

I treat ebay the same way...I avoid BC sellers for the same reason unless they have something I really want. Some out of province sellers do collect various provincial taxes though.

Your are absolutely right.

Not all platinum prestige members are equal. There is obviously a more equal group of platinum prestige members.

My friend was notified the middle of last week and he was offered a set right then.

According to dealer from Germany - tons of coins from 2015 series unsold - no demand and no interest. 2012 Big Penny prices go below issue price.

Who is this dealer? I haven't seen a 2012 5oz Penny coin sell for less than issue, not in North America anyway. Are Europeans discounting them?

I see the 2012 5oz Penny coin selling between $600 to $750, but not less. A few months ago The Coin Shoppe sold one for $770.

I don't consider a one time rare blow out price representative of the average selling price.

This (but I didn't brought exact quote) has been posted on the other forum, by member, who more active there.
He / she deleted the post (and conspiracy theory explains why) , so I have to recall the user's name...sorry.

MUDA, this is the nick here (hopefully, I not mistake).
Would be nice, if he will clarify.

There was one 2012 five ounce farewell to the penny silver coin for sale at Colonial Acres this past weekend for $487.85 on sale. Now....sold out.

I was tempted to buy; however, I did not because I knew this big coin series was coming and yes I did subscribe with RCM. Oh well I will have to live with all the negative comments about this set. LOL

The post is still there #57084.

Oh, gee... Not another one!
How many times have these coins now being ruminated? I'm still sitting on my original silver-plated series. There is hardly any interest.
And even the 2012 5oz penny is selling for less than issue now.
I'd say - stay away...

@New1954 Most days I wonder what exactly the RCM could issue that would not be met with a majority of negative comments here.

CC-Ottawa, thanks a lot for finding the post.
Reading it again, I see, that understood it correctly. However, the poster mention the "local" interest (in Europe).

ADDED:
My bad, rechecked carefully just now, confused between one of the local collectors and dealer from Europe.
Sorry for this.

@New:
congrats for great set. If you really do not have any of the previous series - it will be good buy (let's leave aside devaluation - it relates to every coin).

The 2012 5oz Penny and 2015 5oz 50c are really one of the favorites in my collection. So you enjoy as well.

@CC-Ottawa and Silveroid ---Thank you for your positive vibes:))))))

Most of my NCLT has depreciated and I do have each and every single big coin series starting from 2015. I know that you can get them for less at auctions but for now I am keeping the whole collection going.

I have bought items from auctions and I always find something wrong with the items. Always remember the "AS IS" component when bidding because you never know what you are going to get and they do not like returns.

^^^ like silveroid My 2015 big Loonie is bar none one of my favourite coins in my collection...it has been on display since day one and it still sits on display in all its glory...it's the only big coin I have and I'm ok with that. The 1/2 ounce silver,2012 pink gold farewell to the penny is also a huge favourite in my collection and for this reason I know I want the 2018 5 oz penny......but will pass if they only offer it as part of the subscription....eitherway some more great looking big coins coming out.

I ordered the Voyageur dollar from CC&C last night and received a phone call this morning telling me my order has been cancelled because it is sold out. I am now on a waiting list.

Looks like I have to find an alternative source for it.

I wonder what the allotment for singles compared to subscriptions is.
