CC&C is selling the first release of this series (the voyageur) as a single as well but RCM is only selling the whole subscription. What to do? And this time they are smart. The wooden box is only shipped with the last coin!! I believe that too many people took advantage with the last big coin series and ordered just the first coin which came with the wooden box and then cancelled the rest of the series. I saw way too many at auctions that had solely the first coin with wooden box for bidding. ALSO....the penny 5 ounce big coin (the last one in the series) will only be available with the subscription which will be delivered with the wooden box.

The theme is completely milked to the end, so there is some 6000 of each coin at some variations, just destroying the value of the first sets, almost certainty to be able to purchase latter at below issue.

Kinda sad to see constant recycling of themes.

These should be nice. I mean very well done, but nothing more then this. 2017 has no specialty for these coins to be repeated again. Voyageur theme starts "to smell bad" from multiple very recent remakes. No free wooden box with the first coin - RCM punishing "smart" collectors? According to dealer from Germany - tons of coins from 2015 series unsold - no demand and no interest. 2012 Big Penny prices go below issue price. Together with this, if you don't have 2oz Voyageur, 2012 Penny or 2015 50 cents, the coins from new series will be good find.

Quote: I smell another Bromberg commission The previous 3 Big Coin Series were commissioned by Bromberg, so why would this series be any different? A sure sign that a coin is commissioned is when the RCM quickly sells out. And that is the case with this set. The other coin forum says the subscription is sold out at the RCM.

Unfortunately no price cut from previous series given this a 7 coins set

Being commissioned or lot, this set of coins look like an easy money maker for RCM (or whoever produces them). Zero creativity. Just size up and print.

Pretty pricy set at $3920 ($4194 in BC). In fact, if you bought all 4 Big Coin series, we are looking at $14,000 ($15,000 in BC because of PST).

If I had that kind of money, maybe. But I'll pass.

As much as I want the Voyageur coin (which is the only coin worth getting imo), I will have to pass. This big coin series has been done to death and you can get them all below issue price, even the gold plated 2015 loonie. Canada Post has every single colville big coin for sale still and you can occasionally find them under $450 on ebay, which tells you just how milked this series really is

Couldn't agree more CoinCanuck94.
Overdone and boring now. If you really like this, be patient and wait. Your bank account will thank you in a years time.
This is the second month in a row I'm buying absolutely no coins. I'm currently Platinum Plus but at this rate, I won't even come close to renewing that next year. I do like the Maple Leaf shaped kilo coin but again, Maple Leaf shaped coin has been done a few times now in smaller sizes. Nothing special.
