So is anyone selling the single Voyageur? This coin is going to be harder to find than I expected.

Quote: The 2012 5oz Penny and 2015 5oz 50c are really one of the favorites in my collection. So you enjoy as well. Mine too, as well as the 2015 5oz Loonie. I also like the 5oz Colville Goose. Since I don't have the 2oz Voyageur I'll probably buy the 5oz Voyageur coin from a dealer. CC&C had the singles, but are sold out now. Also, only 1,500 of these...so far.

This is what I know about this new 2018 Big Coin Series.
The Penny will be shipped last with the wooden box and if I am not mistaken, I have read that each coin will come with a clamshell and a custom sleeve that depicts all 7 coins on it. So, what is to stop someone from ordering the subscription with the start of the Voyageur and then cancelling? Hmmmmmm...... These sleeves will not be the custom ones that we have seen in all the other three previous big coin series that depicts which coin is in the clamshell.
I do not know if what I just wrote is fact; however, I believe this is to be true until I am proven wrong:))))) Also, I have read that the mintage for the penny will be less than the rest of the coins because of the "subscription" clause "the penny is the key to this set".

Quote: So, what is to stop someone from ordering the subscription with the start of the Voyageur and then cancelling? $839.94 cancellation fee. CC&C has a new policy for cancelling subs, found under "Terms and Conditions": "If you choose to cancel your subscription after the first issued coin, a cancellation fee of 25% of the purchase price of the remaining coins in the subscription may be applied. The cancellation fee will be charged to your credit card at the time of cancellation." So, if you buy the Voyageur coin and then cancel the sub, you pay $559.95 x 25% = $139.99 x 6 = $839.94 cancellation fee.

@Looney4Numi Thank you for reading the fine print. I guess with this new 2018 big coin series, they finally got smart at CC&C; however do you know if this applies to RCM subs as well?

Quote:do you know if this applies to RCM subs as well? Good question, New1954. I don't know. This is all I could find on their site: "Subscription agreement may be cancelled at your request at any time with a phone call or written notice to the Royal Canadian Mint." No mention of cancellation fees, but it's worth a call to confirm this.

I think that is a very bad business practice on part of Bromberg, people should be allowed to cancel a subscription if they want to without having to pay a ridiculous amount.

This absolutely correct, and RCM has a honest policy here. But business has to protect itself from high probability loss, where some people will use subscription to get desired coin and than cancel the sub. I would propose to charge the customer CAD 50 - 100 on top of the coin price, so the last coin / one before last will be free or reduced price.

There is nothing wrong large with private business charging a large cancellation fee for some one who doesn't fulfill their obligations, Rogers offered a 43 inch Samsung tv for a 2 year sign up but if you cancel before the two years they charged you cost of tv, What the RCM should have done was just create a 10 kilo copper penny and charged accordingly, the collectors should wake up to buy a 4000.00 set to get one desirable coin

Reason - CP doesn't update the stock, and always for a "hot" / "potentially hot" coins they oversold, that leads to order cancellation without notice.

On the other site confirmed, that the coin is very nice in real. Has been spotted in the boutique. Literally confirmed that everyone is running after it, and expected to be rare.
Big Voyageur isn't Big Loonie and not Big Goose, but similar we observed, when those series started.
