Good afternoon everyone. I was going through my proof sets and found this interesting appearance with the F in the FG initials on the reverse. It is a Proof set. Nice penny. The F looks like a big blob or little blob depending on your view. Through 20 times magnification on my AM scope it looks like a blob. Not well defined at all. You can make out an F at the angled shots a little. I don't know what to think of it. If it is something. I am sending a batch to PCGS this week. How would I send a proof set to PCGS if this requires further attention. It is probably nothing. Your opinions mean a great deal. I know many of you have over 30 years of experience in these matters. Thanks.

It might be due to a late die stage. Also, your title states 1968 while the coin itself is a 1970.

My mistake. You are absolutely correct. My apologies. Under the microscope it appears as a blob. Is this an error worth pursuing?

It is not a mint "error" as in what you mean valuable. Proof dies were double struck. This was probably toward the end of the proof run, this is call "metal flow", it will cause weird distortions as metal flows to the outside after multiple strikings.

OK, I found the 1970S1DR-001P. It is in a proof set. Do I have to send the proof set to PCGS?
