Poll Question
Since they are both considered mint errors, I'm curious how folks feel about them. Thanks, Ed

I'm one who considers Laminations more a Planchet flaw than a Mint strike error coin. Yes, it is a mint process, the making of the planchet, but the stock plate composition is the problem, not a striking error. Lams can lift off, fold over(just found one), appear as cracks all after leaving the mint. I disagree with the comparison for these reasons.

Ed. What is your thinking behind this question?
Neither of those get into my top ten error preferences.

Yes, I agree that Laminations are more of a Planchet flaw. No complicated thinking behind the question. Just a simple preference if you had a choice....all things being equal. I like laminations, but always thought strikethroughs were interesting because of the possibilities different stuff being struckthrough. I recently had a coin on the grading forum that ANACS called a Lamination, which I liked, but apparently it's a Strikethrough, which made me like the coin even more.

It depends a lot on the coin type, coin grade, extent of lamination, or type of strike through.
I guess if I didn't know any of that, I'd prefer a strike through.

I have a number of laminations but no strikethrough (except grease).

They are totally different types of errors. If you are into errors, collect examples of each. Taking it further, it is educational to collect ALL types of errors.

Taking the question at face value, I'm going to be more interested in the lamination, ten times out of ten. No idea why.
