There is a Government of Pakistan P1 1 Rupee for sale on ebay and I am trying to figure out if this note is a fake or not. The note is real but I think that the over print was "added". http://www.ebay.ca/itm/British-Paki...AOSwLzhZoxYGThings that look wrong to me: 1. It is an over print on a India P25c Black SN Letter A. All of the other notes that I have see has been on India P25d Green SN Letter A. 2. The print is faded and the shadowing of the text is blurry. The rest of the note is in good condition. 3. The overprint text is shifted down. Other Green SN notes are centered properly. Has anyone seen a P25c with the Pakistan Overprint?

Doesn't look right to me, either. I'd pass on it were I in the market for one right now. There is another on ebay right now, with the green number, all is sharp and clear. There's a reason why graded and certified notes are popular and this could be one of them.

Genuine Pakistan overprints are only on P25d.

@paxbrit, Thank You. I have the India P25d Green SN Letter A already. I was wondering if this was something new.
@lettow other than the Krause catalog do you know of any other sources as to P25d bring the only genuine overprint.

Articles in the IBNS Journal. The Standard Catalog does not have it correct (unless it has been corrected recently). The Standard Catalog lists Pakistan P-1 as being overprinted on India P-25c. India P-25c is listed as black serial number and letter A. P-25d has green serial numbers. This incorrect cataloguing crept into the IBNS article despite the fact that all the notes pictured in the article are clearly P-25d. To confuse matters further, the IBNS article has a list of block combinations for the Pakistan notes. Q/37 - Q/99 R/06, R/76 - R/99 S/0 - S/55 These block combinations appear on both P-25c and P-25d. The note in the ebay auction is within this range Q/75 but is the wrong serial number type. Unless you go by how the Standard Catalog lists it in which case it is the correct serial number type. The fact that this note is within the correct block range is adding to the thought that it is genuine in the minds of bidders who have now pushed it up over GBP 205.00. Someone is in for a rude shock.

"I was wondering if this was something new."
From the information presented by Mr. Lettow, it certainly does look to be something new ! Certainly newer than 1947 !

Someone is going to be very unhappy when he tries to sell that.

This note was discussed recently on the IBNS Forum. Counterfeit expert Joe Boling chimed in that based on his examination of the scans the overprint is fake and the Q in the block letter was modified from a letter C.

Reported it, but I goofed and said genuine copies are in black serial numbers, if anyone wants to pile on and give correct information about green numbers, go right ahead.
He's even using the same photo for the second note. Either the first buyer caught on to the scam, or he's got a bundle of them.
