*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

I was looking at a quarter the other day and noticed these three very small almost crescent or "D" shaped marks on my coin. Any clues as to what they are?

Perhaps a object hit and 'bounced' along as it did so.

Btw, welcome to CCF! Remember to post year, series/type of coin in your thread title!

Ex: 2016 Washington quarter

-or shorthand-

'16 Wash. Quart.

EDIT: mods are quick tonight!

Your coin was hit by the reeded edge of another coin.

Edge reeding hits, happened in mint transport bags most likely. One reason never find MS-67 OR higher grades in mint bags. That's/a freebie hint BTW

Yes, it appears to be a contact, or "bag", mark from another reeded-edge coin. Like Crazyb0 said, it happens frequently in mint bags full of coins. When the coin denomination has a reeded edge, then you get those marks instead of a single mark from a plain-edged coin like a nickel or cent.
