Yes, real. A Sassanian drachm, I believe of Khusro II, 590 - 628 AD. Echizento or Finn will probably be along to provide some guidance.

A nice drachm of Khusro II as Bob said. I believe the mint mark on the right side reverse is LD, city of Ray in Media northern district. Dated on the left tlyn= year 2 of his reign.
