This is one of two gold pieces that I got when my mother passed. I apologize for the picture quality, I don't have a decent camera. These were taken with a magnify glass velcrowed to my IPad which do not give the coin any of the justice it deserves. I was just hoping for your opinion. Thank you.

Forgive my typing error. It should be 1898 not 1896

Staff edit - title has been corrected.

Any chance you can weigh this? Jewelry stores will usually do it for you if you ask, if you don't have a way to weigh it.

...way to weigh...fun...

As far as I am certain, the correct weight for a a five dollar gold piece is 8.359 grams, so you have the correct weight.

I know it's real! I just wish I had a decent camera so I can post better pictures. Comparing it with PCGS photograde, my thoughts were ms 60. but I' am by far, not experienced enough to be confident with that guesstamation!
