Mike diamond, no it's was found in circulation so it has corrosion damage. Sorry but you are incorrect. It's a Partial Collar error and also if the error wasn't real, than I would have known by now and would have thrown it back in circulation. This error happened at the Mint, not outside of the Mint.

That's downright humorous.

By all means, question Mike Diamond if you wish (I've disagreed with him before, usually at the cost of my own reputation ), but you'd better have a few decades of experience with these things and a national reputation as an error specialist - like he does - before you expect to be believed. And it wouldn't hurt if - like him - you're the driving force behind the standard online reference for such errors.

I should listen to him, but I disagree with him about it not being a error coin when it's a error coin. I have nothing against him, I actually like him a lot because he's showed cased a lot of cool error coins and explained what happened to cause the Mint error. It's a Partial Collar error as Coop and the others have already covered. I might have not been doing this as long as Mike Diamond, but I still know quite a bit because I've been collecting for 3-4 years and I've learned from Mike Diamond and others from the internet. Case closed.

Collars aren't convex. The damage on the rim of your coin is concave. Case closed.

It's fine for folks to disagree with me. The photo of the edge is not ideal, so I might be mistaken in my observation that the edge is concave in vertical cross-section rather than stepped. But if my interpretation of the photo is accurate, then it's post-strike damage.

I usually get my coins from the bank in circulated rolls from bank boxes so this damage and other damage is expected. I have nothing against you since I learned a lot from you and the others. Anyway, I am sorry that I had a strong reaction. :)

Errers and Varietys,
Why not see if Mike would be so generous as to look at your coin in his hand, send it to him to be examined.
