This is the last of the Prutah I will be posting. I am still working on the series and once I get more coins I will post them.

Procius Festus was the Roman Governor under Nero from 59-62 AD. Little is known about him, so it appears his administration was uneventful.

AE Prutah (Lepton)
Obverse: Greek legend within a wreath. "Of Nero"
Reverse: Palm branch, Greek legend "Year 5 of Caesar"
14.5mm x 2g x 10h

very nice coin with a fantastic green patina . I like the way the die is cut with letters of different sizes .It looks to me that the diecutter had not the habit to cut Greek letters : the difference between epsilon and sigma is only a dot in the middle of the C ,the alfpha on the reverse in the name KAISAROS and the symbol for L before the year C , or maybe it was traditionally so in Palestine ? What is your opinion? albert
