Now I have done it! I was happy collecting regular loonies. I had few silver ones, until today. Stopped at the LCS yesterday and saw 5 lined up beside each other. 04,06,08,12 Olympic lucky loons, with a 25th anniversary along side. He held them for me to pick up on the way to work today. I love the Olympics to start with, and the Loonie. So now I need the 10,14 and 16 to complete the set. It hit me how cheap these coins are when they get a few years old. Taxes were charged on the first 3, I did the math, but won't bore you. The issue price is over $200 before taxes. My guy who owns the shop is good to me. I got all 5 for less than 3 figures, and he still made his share. I think he knows every coin I ever got from him! I count myself lucky for his honesty after seeing some of the others out there, and the treatment keeps me going back to see him. Now that's customer service.  The coins are great too. The 25th is amazing me.  "We are poor little lambs...who have lost our way...Baa...Baa...Baa"

Congratulations on a yummy purchase. I'd love to see photos, too.
Once you find a seller who cares about the coins that go into your collection almost as much as you do, cherish them. They aren't exactly rare, but they can be scarce.

Good stuff! I'd like to see photos as well.
I guess I should wait a few years before purchasing this year's 2-coin anniversary set.

Great set , now you can start on the born in , xmas , aniversary ,bird and nhl series and the gold plated few it is a fun set

Congrats! Very nice pick up. Your story illustrates how building a rapport with your local coin shop can pay solid dividends and often beat blind purchases over the internet.

I have them all... silver loons, painted loons, hockey, wedding sets, and even the painted Montreal Canadiens loon... until this year.
I absolutely refused to spend the money on the 30th anniversary loons struck in gold...
