I just spent the day walking a coin show, looking for US copper whose date started with "17" for $100 or less. Unsuccessfully. By my standards, you did well indeed.

A 1798 for $40 is fantastic - I've yet to find a coin in the 1700's that had a readable date and in my price range - hard to come by like SD stated for under $100(unless of course a FR-2 or worse one).

Grade wise, G5 net AG3, porosity and rim damage.
