Need to see the reverse also. If it were double struck, then the reverse would also be affected. If it is not raised, it maybe just a stain.

E&V - of course there is a stain on the coin but is that a raised area directly behind Lincoln's head? That is what's in question that the OP hasn't addressed yet. Not so fast with the PMD! And coop is right - OP should show reverse picture too.
