Brass? Baseball Card Token...any Help?

So I dug this up today. It's a brass? replica of A Topps Darryl Strawberry rookie card. The front looks decent but the back looks like it lost it's plating. It is completely non-metallic though. It seems to weigh about an ounce give or take. Does anyone have any idea on when these came out? I've never seen them before.

Interesting find! According to the interwebs, this piece was made in 1984, as part of a set made by Topps from 1983 to 1987:

Man that is a cool scoff. great player in his day but think drugs were his downfall.
