Hi There,
I am a newbie and really having fun with this. I am looking to start selling on ebay and here when I get enough posts. I was wondering if anyone had tips on choosing the length of time you let an auction go on for? Should I go 7 days, 10 days, 1 day etc. Any direction would be very helpful THANKS! You guys are awesome!

I have used 5, 7 and 10 days and find I get the best results with 7-day auctions ending on a Saturday or Sunday. More people check ebay at weekends and (as someone working normal office hours myself) I find it easiest to put the items on sale on a Saturday and then with a bit of luck get paid and post them the following Saturday.

i would suggest you arm yourself with a boat load of information, before you ever consider selling anything on ebay.. don't take this the wrong way but you are too green, once you are comfortable with coin varieties, errors, condition, value and the ins and outs of buying and selling then maybe dip your toes into ebay's water..
Rest in Peace

If you are inexperienced with coins, trying to sell them on ebay will likely be less than fun.

But, to answer your question specifically - 7 days, open and close at 6 PM on Sunday.

Hey! Thanks for the answers and the honesty. No offense taken at all. I completely realize how green I really am and thats why I am really grateful I found this forum. I went a little nuts last night posting stuff because I am really excited but I appreciate the reality check. I got a bit discouraged before but now I see that I just didn't know what I was doing (still learning). I am not sensitive and truly just want to learn so any advice, PLEASE, don't hesitate. :)

A lot of people swear buy the Sunday night thing, I don't really believe in it though. Too much stuff ends on Sundays and people aren't going to sit at their computer with multiple different windows open. David Lawrence auctions end sundays, another one ends on sundays, a lot of ebay ones end on sundays ect, plus there is also football on sundays now. There's really no magic time for ending things and really does kind of depend on what it is.

To me 3 days was always the perfect length for auction time, but they charge for those now so 5 is the second best. Again it depends some on what it is but most things are common enough that people will just find another one when you make them wait a week to see if they could be the winner.
