I will be posting several of these Indian Head cents over the next week since I am sorting them at the shop when I can work there. The others are probably not as exciting as these two- for me anyway. I have the Snow book for reference and the CPG ...I could not find these two in either one. The snow book was published in '92...so maybe there is an update ? I will assume for now that they are unlisted..until I hear otherwise. First up, an 1891 with what looks to me like an obvious repunch on the 1 in the date. None of the RPD's in the snow book for that year have this ...unless I missed something. Look for yourself and let me know what you think.

Next up is a 1907 with a MPD (Mis-Placed Date) I first noticed that the 9 looks re-punched inside the lower loop, and then when I got it under the scope, I was really surprised to see what I was looking at. The red highlighted areas show what I am talking about. The first pic is the 1 and 9 in the date, and the denticles below them. You can see the top of the nine at the left and the more obvious top of the 0 to the right of that. The nine is in the second pic also and The seven is pretty evident since the serif is between two denticles and the matching curvature is plain to see...to me anyway. It was punched slightly tilted, so I think the 1 just missed the denticles . I could not find a listing for this coin, anyone know of one ? Also, I am not sure if the stuff going on inside the 9 is die chip/crack or repunching..any thoughts ? I really like this coin, nice condition, and I want it for mine !!

Both are nice coins, the 91 is a nice VF, and the 07 is a nice XF..I hope to bring them both home with me when a price can be determined.

Great finds!
I don't have the Snow guide for 1891, but is it possible that's a Snow-5? 1/1(s)
The 1907 is pretty cool because there's both an RPD and a rather dramatic MPD with 3 digits in the denticles. This one looks very much like the S-14 in the guide for that year.

Those sure look like RPDs. Maybe you discovered some new varieties? Either way, congrads on the finds.

I don't have the Snow guide inclusive of 1891, but I based my guess on the population report here.
The Snow guide for 1900-09 pretty much nails the second one.
