I have a question what do you think the grade of this Half Cent is and how much would you guys pay for it? And what is a range it would be worth?

Weird gold color looks like it's been plated. If so, virtually no numismatic collector value.

Any chance of getting photos outside the holder and at least one photo of the coins edge?

Almost looks like it was made as an attempt to pass it off as $5 gold. Like a Racketeer nickel. Obviously, the nickel had the advantage that in 1883 it did not say Cents, this says Half Cent boldly. I imagine that this plating was done later. I disagree though about the value of this piece. I would think it would still be saleable on ebay in the $20 range.

That's to bad about the color/plating as it seems to be about a VF20 grade.

Not worth a graded coin's price. If you knew how to remove the Gold Wash put on it, possibly all it is is paint which I highly suspect since high points are worn this way. Could be "salvagable" but always rate a damaged coin status. I'd try it for $8 shipped just to see, know I have a can of paint stripper around...

I'm suppose to have more pics coming from the seller will post them when I receive them if I don't receive them I will pass and the seller says it isn't gold in person so we will see

Doesn't acetone remove paint? Looks to have good detail.

It works on oil based and acrylic paints, lacquers and varnishes, but I don't think it works on water based latex paints. Hopefully that Half Cent wasn't painted with that.

Looks plated, Acetone won't remove that.

Gold plated coins are always damaged. The stuff effects the surfaces. I'd say pass. The 1809 is one of the more common Half Cent dates although there are a couple of better die varieties.
