Smacks of a fake, digits seem wrong fonts? Looks like a cast coin...is their a center ridge aroun the rim, or tooling marks like one was removed? Although marked silver at higher density than sterling silver,,it probably isn't. IS it magnetic? Silver content of 18th century rarely surpassed 50%, most often much less.
Gonna guess its a copy of Spanish 8 Reales, but have no idea.

I had it tested and it's that silver content, there are no ridges on the spine, it's fairly smooth with a few flat places.

Going out on alimb here, but I think it is supppsed to be a 1736 gold 8 escudos from Peru. The design matches pretty well.
Obviously, it is not gold, but the silver 8 reales is a different design....

Assuming at this point it's a forgery, it looks like a royal Cob?

First, let me just say I have zero knowledge on these types of coins. I have just a question though.

Why would someone go through the trouble of making a forgery that had 95% silver? And if this isn't really 95% silver, what test was done on it that had the OP understanding that it was tested at that level.
