It seems this is a relatively common copper commemborable coin, according to Google. Is this correct?

Very common. Worth virtually nothing more than one cent. It came with a comparison of all the similarities between Lincoln and JFK.

Start collecting the varieties...no, not joking. I have 5 different stamps of Kennedys head so far, no telling how many more there are.

They are referred to as "counter-stamped" Some people collect them but little if any premium.

Privately made and they probably started making them in 1963 and they have been making them ever since. I know there have been at least 9 different punches for the Kennedy head used over the years.
