1931S Buffalo nickels grade MS65/66 coins don't exactly grow on trees but it is possible to find one under $500.
Another one to consider is a 1913D Ty II in MS64.
1929S looks kind of tempting in MS65 and you could always get a great 1938 D/S in MS66
Everyone will always want to add that to their set, even if it's a short set.
Which is also a good idea, a short set from 1938 and work your way down in the best grades you can afford.
Even if only a year set.
But I suggest you learn to cherry pick this series for more than just the grade. There are certain characteristics for each date and mintmark that your usual and typical coin will exhibit for each particular issue. The trick when shopping for one would be to know what makes a good 1914D, for example, head and shoulders above another with the same grade stamped on the holder.
I suggest investing in a good book which I have found most useful.
It tells you what to look for with each and every Buffalo.
I do not endorse the authors, but I do think they cover the Buffalo and Jeffersons very nicely for a serious collector.
