For the quarter, it looks like 1980 is the first year to actually have a P mintmark (on the obverse). Before that, the Philly quarters had no mintmark. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/21/2017 1:07 pm Silver quarters for business strikes until 1964. Clad on the quarters till now on regular circulation coins. Some years had some special issues of silver clad coinage on quarters. 1976-S clad. 5.67gm outside layers clad with silver on business strikes and proof quarters. 1992-S through 2009-S proof Silver Quarters 6.25gm (from Red Book information) Probably more information on post 2009 quarters. That is all the information I have on hand that is published. (I just have an older ' Red Book') I need to get a new one, just haven't had the need for one yet) So if anyone does have one, then they can add more information to this post.
