I think this coins problems are from being buried or some other kind of enviro damage,But had to put it out there. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I believe it's a combo between heavy circulation wear and Environmental Damage from being in the ground possibly.

This is NOT what a ground found nickel looks like. If you metal detect, you will learn what different coins look like when extracted from different soils, and this is not what happens to a nickel, even for much longer periods of burial.

This is just plain worn and has accumulated it's own gunk from that exposure.

I did find my first quarter the other day detecting ( small clash) and it's almost black in color. So that's most likely what most buried coins will look like? Not this one.

It all depends on how long the coins been buried, wet or dry soil, and what kind of soil. BUT coins (not counting the zincolns) do not get porosity from being buried.

Here's a few dimes I have found detecting and then a Zincoln I found.

This copper plated cent had a hard life underground. Can't see it in the picture but in hand you can make out Lincolnl's bust.

The first coin I found was a zincoln and it was a lot worse off than that. I didn't think it was a coin until after I seen the cent. Which was the only legible thing on it!. Thanks for the info!
