As seen on the "Shopping Channel" Feb. 19, 05. The representatives of HSN Coins was talking and showing their coins, and made this statement: Errors always occur after they (the coins) are minted! Yah don't say? I was under the impression the error had occured prior to the minting of the coin, and it showed up afterwards. But how an I to argue with these experts.
I have been advised to actually sit and watch one of these shows. I tried last weekend, but watching the guy handling the "BU Morgan dollar" started to make me feel sick. The woman who was there kept telling him to put it down in the display, but he just had to keep touching (and not on the edges either) [:0]
I would like to nail the whole bunch but not for just handling a coin like a fool. Deception, false advertising, and theft seem to come to mind at this time!
As far as mishandling goes, the HSN rep showing the State Quarters accidently droped one of them out onto the counter top. He calmly picked it up and pressed it back into the holder with his thumb, and at the same time telling everyone how these coins are only handled by persons wearing gloves. Talk about an Ouppps!
Anyone remember the 1933 St. Gaudens? This coin was taken by the Secret Service to many of the morning shows such as Good Morning America. The coin was delivered and showcased in the palm of the hand. Millions witnessed this mishandling and most had no idea.
