While I'm not a note collector, I ran across this and was rather stunned:

A rare note with serial #1, But not worth anywhere near 1 million dollars. Book value for CU $5500. Being #1 might add another $5-10,000 more.

I think this is an item better suited for a live auction such as Heritage--unless he insisted on a stratospheric starting bid, and not what the auction house suggested?

What does it cost the seller to list this item at $1,000,000 if it doesn't sell?
Doesn't the fee still go up according to the price of the item?

The seller is right, a museum may AND SHOULD acquire this one. There is too much history there, that it should not be available for all to see. I would think that the Smithsonian would be interested.

Ya, but they would certainly not pay a million dollars for that, or would they?
