There were actually higher made than that. I don't remember all the denomonations, but there are a couple more, up to $100,000! No $100k bills were every released outside the banking industry, but all the lower ones were. Edit:Whoops... I was thinking there was a 50k bill. I don't think there was now. Must have went 10k to 100k... Here a $100k:

Series 1934 Julian-Morgenthau 11,520 printed. My book states that in XF they sell for @$45,000, and in CU @$70,000. One note in CU was auctioned in Sept 2005 for $109,250. So I would think that $157K is high.

There is an extension office of one of the Federal Reserve Banks in Denver, I can't remember if it was from the Kansas City bank but anyway in their lobby they have a currency musuem, a lot of cool items and they give out shredded bags of money too. In their display they have several consecutive $100,000 bills. They were used to make large transfers of funds from one bank to another before the time of electronic transfers. Actually, the placement of the 12 federal reserve banks was made so that there wouldn't be more than an overnight train ride from to the next incase funds had to be moved quickly. Frank

If you have A $10,000, I would love to see it. From the books I have they list the prices as follow:
1928 ABP $20,000 VF $45,000 UNC RARE
1934 ABP $15,000 VF $37,500 UNC $65,000
1934A VERY RARE
GOLD CERTS. VERY RARE
So if you have one, I would say that it is easily be worth $65,000 and if it is a more rare type then who knows. Either way, this is something that would be nice to have if you could afford it or even better if you already own it.
