Hi guys So I'm thinking of bidding on an auction, the pictures are poor, and I'm not sure how much to bid. I think it might contain some interesting stuff and the clueless seller has just photographed the wrong things. What I do know is that there is a coin on the top of the first image, that has a portrait of George VI, has been modified to jewellery and is golden in colour. Hmm? Any ideas? Also, it seems like the last three images only show a small part of all the coins. There are definitely some silver coins in there. Do you think it would be worth a punt of say, 80 USD?

That does look like a Ducat in bezel, is probably fake. I see mostly very common deals junk box stuff, seems 1850ish to 1990's. Some ofbhos Geo6's look past 1948(_not silver). Not seeing anything that pops out, a couple Napoleon3's, lot of contemporary US Canadian and Europeans. Does look like the slop jar standard mix. Personally don't see it as/a good risk. When I was doing those bulk buys like that two years ago I might of gone $35 tops with fees, but no more than $45 all in.

I'm not familiar with all of it but, nothing is standing out as special. The mix looks pretty standard. I wouldn't put $80 on it.

I'd say its a fun batch for any world coin collector - I even see a Swedish silver 25 Öre in there. Nonetheless, I agree there's nothing special except the "gold coin". I really can't see what the "gold coin" is so I wouldn't count on it. Otherwise, I'd say NZD $35 thereabouts for this batch, which leaves possible room for excitement and even profit (value-wise).

"clueless seller has just photographed the wrong things"
That is what people purposely do with troll lots in order to get rid of junk. Not an ethical practice, but very common

This kind of batch should sell per kilogram. I see a few nice coins, but nothing very special: most just 'regular world coins'. I'd say US$25 at most.

Despite your helpful advice, my curiosity got the better of me and I bid on it. I'll let you know what's in it when it arrives!
