They will not insure to many countries in the world. The safest way to transfer anything across the big pond is by REGISTERED MAIL but I have found a bubble wrapper to most areas is safe and I have yet to lose a package anywhere and believe me when I say I have shipped almost every where. The trick is knowing what countries have a reliable and trusting postal service and which ones don't. You ABSOLUTELY must Register to SPAIN, GREECE, INDIA, and RUSSIA! Regular airmail is safe to the Netherlands, Finland, Great Britain, Belgium and Australia. For those who have never mailed out of the U.S. you need to know you will have to prepare a customs declaration and mark it as a gift with a nominal value of say $10.00 as you won't get insurance to most foreign countries anyway and a higher value may cause problems at customs or force customs taxes on the recipient, which we don't want to do! Also the contents should be marked as "Hobby Supplies or Samples". Never put Coins, Currency or Collectables on the customs declaration! Any way you cut it any time you put anything in the mail you run the risk of losing it but perhaps luck will be with us for a long time. I have mailed world wide, including South America for over 4 years and haven't been burnt yet! Lets also assume some of us from time to time will pay a few dollars more to ship, according to the destination, and if that is a problem please don't sign up as there is NO WAY it will always be absolutely the same for everyone! Now, lets get on with it!

rggoodie that is one outstanding coin as I subscribed so my wife and I both bought one! At 50mm it is a huge coin in a very nice case! Another fine example of Australian quality that everyone MUST get a chance to see! Great choice and an unbelievable offering from you! I have a 2005 Silver Chinese Panda I would put in the kitty if anyone would like to have it on board! Sorry, no photo available, but a very beautiful coin!

We have always shipped our coins "across the pond" by Global Priority. The small envelope is a flat $5.00 to ship, so it's not cost prohibitive. Just a suggestion. Since we have members all over the world, it might be nice to have the card contain more than one coin. We could have examples from all different countries. What do you all think? I've got a nice roll of BU Peace dollars on the way. I'd be happy to donate one of them for the Perpetual Giveaway. One other thought: For security reasons, I think there is going to have to be a post requirement or something to participate. This could be a valuable little package and I would hate to see someone just keep it. With a post requirement, we would at least know more about the people participating. Just a thought.

Great choice of an Aussie Coin B_F.... As it would be impossible to accommodate donations from everyone, how about settling for no more than 5 coins...one from each continent, if agreeable by participants/members/Admin, at least all continents from where our members are from will be represented in the Perpetual Giveaway. Susan has offered one from the Americas and nohope has offered a Churchill Crown for Europe, that leaves us only with Asia and Africa. As Shane has offered an excellent one to represent Australia, that leaves me only with Asia and Africa. Along this line of thinking, I am offering this Asian one from Vietnam. Members who are contemplating donating a coin should still go ahead and make that offer. Where there is more than one coin from a region, then let the membership decide which one is to be selected.

Lims Idea of 1 coin per continent has merit in my eyes to attempt to keep the value and weight of the parcel to a reasonable size. If no objections this is the way we will go. I will start a new thread for people to offer coins for donation. As they are offered I will add them to the top of the thread divided into their continents. I will then organise a membership vote in the New Year for the coin winners to kick off the perpetual giveaway. If no-one objects in the new year I will also draft a set of rules so everyone understands their responibilities when they are the custodian of the giveaway. The donation thread is here... https://goccf.com/t/2981

I have other modern day coins from all over Europe that are just absolutely beautiful but to even try to replace them, should they disappear, would be very hard so I am kind of greedy when it comes to them. Hopefully I will eventually have that darn digital camera so I can at least share the images. The Swans from Belarus is just an exceptional coin but was very hard for me to get my paws on so it must stay right here! But I will make every effort to build a nice display and shipping case if you guys/gals think we need it? It would probably simplify shipping and packaging.

If not too late, count me in too.
I'd like to thank everyone who makes such a thing real.
I see the donations for the giveaway are closed, but is the coin number limited to six, I mean, I suppose I can add a coin if the set comes to me, right?
Or is there anything I didnt take into consideration?

It is my understanding no coins can be added to this set as they will be sealed in which will guarantee everyone they will see and hold the exact same coins throughout its travels. Many collectors will probably send a gift on to the next recipient for them to keep as a token of having held the set for a few weeks. That will be up to the individuals involved.
