What do you think, is it genuine? The coin is not mine so the pics are all I have.

Yikes! Who took a Brillo pad to it? Oh yeah - it was Lil' Janey!

I thought both tails of the 9's were even across the coin but the second 9's tail is considerably shorter? Nevermind, guess not, just the rotation of the coin in the picture.

The MM is placed as Die #4. Terrible coin, too bad it'll go for top $

No kidding. Huge rim hit next to "Liberty" as well. Still... to some degree a 1909 S VDB is a 1909 S VDB. Many of us would love to have that "hole filler".

This whitening cleaning makes some sort of Michael Jackson version of Lincoln. So, for the coin? You know it's bad, it's bad - you know it
(Bad bad - really, really bad).

But legit, methinks.

My views ... not an expert on this coin ... I'm highly suspicious of the dark areas shown around the mintmark ... a general counterfeiting ploy.

I get all the Die #4 mintmark position ... does anyone here believe the folks adding mintmarks are ignorant of this?

Observe again the surfaces at the mintmark location ... the reminder of the coin is scrubbed to death ... and this area remains dark?

I'll be the objector ... IMHO not genuine.

There are dark spots in other nooks and crannies as well... such as the "G" and "D" in "God" and the "BER" in "LIBERTY". These areas are more difficult to clean.

I am not too skeptical of the authenticity, but the harsh cleaning is certainly a turn-off for me.

Must see the MM more closely to confirm if it's genuine but it looks to be correct. Harshly cleaned, AU details.
