The best I can come up with so far is a B-28, but there's no rim Cud under the 8. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ed

I don't have access to the printed material which is the only way to attribute these that's not hit-or-miss, so although this might be a match for the S-169 faces I can't be sure. The lack of the rim Cud isn't a dealbreaker since the strike appears o have missed the denticles there; I saw a few like this while researching.

I will say the I-B space in LIBERTY seems too wide for the 168/169 obverse, but the absence of visible serifs on the B might play in to this.

Thanks, I see what you mean about the I B space. I went through every Variety quickly, but I'll give it a good look, and take my time when I have a moment. Hopefully a couple more of the copper mavens will check in in the mean time

edit: Ok, slight revision. S-170, B-29, R.3 am sticking with that......unless someone proves me wrong

Absolutely no knowledge on the topic ... simply writing to salute what appears to be a wonderful acquisition.

That seems good - I saw other examples without the obverse die crack noted in late die states. Are the dies rotated relative to each other? All the examples I looked at had the reverse rotated counterclockwise from where it "should" be.

Yes, definite significant die rotation counterclockwise on the reverse
