I have a 1893 Indian Head penny that has some sort of slag on it and I'm new to this so experience is limited thats why I joined this great forum. Also it looks like a 1 or something else to the right of 3 not sure any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I love to learn! Thanks

I believe that is environmental damage. I an not certain what causes the growths on such coins, but I have seen it before.
