On http://Deleted008.com/news/latest/n...ulation.html I have recently read some news stating that each 3 months, starting February 14, new presidential coins will be issued; valuing 1 dollar. The first presidential coin was James Monroe's, featuring his image on the obverse. It was the 5th president of USA. After 3 months, the 6th president will be incrusted on the next dollar coin. This procedure will be repeated 2 more times for the 7th and 8th, till November 13. It is an interesting method of putting in circulation valuable coins. In some time these coins will be an interesting material for collecting. It's a pity they issued only 4 presidents. very few.

The mint has actually been doing this since last year, starting with the first president, George Washington.

Yep and if you go onto the https://www.usmint.gov you can still get the 2007 set of 4. I wait till the full proof/quarters/dollar sets come out and get them all at once.

Welcome Rakiura! As noted above, this series started last year and previous coins are still available. It's a nice set to collect - I like it because it's really the first new coin issued since I've been actively collecting (again!). So I can get in on the ground floor so to speak. I've started a set with proofs in a Dansco album. I've also started folders without proofs for my three children. The Dansco album is pretty neat with a brief write-up for each president, nice information.

Yes, as others have stated the first year for these began in 2007 honoring the first four presidents and each year after that they will honor four presidents every year. Only dead presidents can have their likeness put upon these coins or any other coin. They will continue to do this until at least the year 2016.
Also, you might find interesting.......four times each year they will also honor the "spouse" of each president with a one half ounce gold proof coin. When a president served with out a wife, they will have a common design for those.
The United States Mint has an "online store" where you can order any new "modern" coin such as these mentioned here. (site/link provided to you already).. There are many other neat looking "Commemorative" coins, current denominations, gold, silver, platinum, bronze, expensive and inexpensive choices...etc. etc. ....happy searching !....

Hi again, Rakiura.

You've been asked before, and you're being asked again. Please stop trying to post links to that "news" site. It has been placed in the "banned website file" for repeated spamming of this forum. Your links will not work.

There are much more reliable sources of coin news... like this forum.

More accurately, there will be a depiction of Liberty.

I would not say they will have a common image; each appears to be based on an image from the coinage during that President's term.
