checking on some pennies , I found this 1992d which I think it has double die and Machine Doubling on the reverse side ,,, here are some pictures for the experts ,,,,

Those pictures are hard to gauge but from what I'm seeing so far, is a lack of doubling. May need better pictures and pictures of the whole coin too.

If your'e talking about STATES - then that is just split plating. The die strike caused the copper plating to "tear" at the top of the letters exposing the zinc core.

MD doubling on the EPU. The inverted color image show that on the top of those devices.
