I'll be in the exhibits area at Noon; maybe we can meet?

Is it basically the same show I went to last time, or is it bigger? I have some Double Eagles that aren't doing anything for me.Nevermind, I just used Google to see its the same place, but with a different name is it different

This (the fall) show is usually in Greenville at TD Center. (The spring show used to the there, too, but moved to Spartanburg about ten years ago.) This is the first first year this show was held in Spartanburg. Since it was always the bigger show, I was skeptical of the smaller venue. Looks like I had good reason for concern. I could see where the squeezed in more tables, but there were a lot of empty tables when I got there. It was not that crowded and there were dealers packing up well before 3PM on Saturday. I had to leave early myself. I did not get anything on my list nor did I get to meet with commems.

yeah, I have it on my calendar to try to make my local 1-day show in December or January. I know some dealers start packing about 4pm. Dealers with a drive of several hours I could understand. I also wonder how they make enough to cover travel and dealer fees.

It seemed like the missing and early packing dealers were ones who usually attended the show in Greenville, but not the spring (late winter really) show in Spartanburg. The venue in Greenville is a lot bigger with more parking, so some of them may have been unimpressed and left after Friday. If you want to add it to your calendar, the next show in Spartanburg is 16, 17, and 18 February 2018. I will add a calendar event as we get closer.

A few of the race groups I work with have 2018 posted, but the group with high/top priority won't post until Christmas at the earliest, but it has been until mid-January at the latest. But I will "pencil" you in.

I have to say, with my new interest in PCGS Ikes, I have not had much success with the last two shows. I walked away with one when I saw you there in February, but none this weekend. Also, trying to fill out those last holes in the Dansco albums is tough. What I did find I could not afford after buying the 2017 Liberty Medal set last week. That took a big bite out of my budget. I hope to have better success in February. I might focus on the Dansco holes and leave the Ikes to ebay.

Just for clarity...
The show this past weekend was sponsored by the South Carolina Numismatic Association (SCNA); it holds a show each October. As jbuck mentioned, the show is typically at the TD Convention Center in Greenville. It had to move to Spartanburg this year due to a conflict at the Greenville faciltiy; the SCNA show will be back in Greenville in 2018.
The February show in Spartaburg - the Upstate SC Coin Show - is hosted by the Greenville and Parker Coin Clubs. It is not affiliated with the SCNA - two different promoters.

That is correct, different sponsors between fall and spring shows. Many of the same dealers come to both, but the fall show typically has more.
