Picked this up with a Nova Constellatio and a Connecticut copper.

This one has an illegible date, and I can't match it to any on coinfacts. Only thing I've been able to determine is that it is a narrow shield and curved plough beam, so that should be an '86 or an '87. But I can't match it to any out there, so I can;t even be sure of the date.

Any help would be awesome!

I think it is a 1786 23-P, don't have a reference handy to verify though. May be able to check later if no one else does.

AWESOME!

I don't know how I missed that. I think I was using the PCGS version of coinfacts, and it doesn't have the 23-P that I can find.

Thanks a ton, and l.cutler is correct in his guess.

Thanks to both of you!

You need to pick up a proper reference book, such as this: http://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v14n41a04.html

I'll second the Michael Demling book, I think it is excellent. He also has one on the Massachusetts pieces as well. I don't have that one (yet) but I would expect it to be a winner as well.

The MASS book is the same as the NJ book, only for the MASS series (obviously). I would certainly own it except I do not collect that type of coin. I know the author well... Great guy!

I don't collect either one, but I have the NJ book and I'm getting the MA book. I have a LOT of books on series that I don't collect. The information is always good to have.
