I have it narrowed down to the A1d Reverse.

1878-P-8TF---VAM-14.5-?
1878-P-8TF---VAM-14.5-?

I'm pretty sure I have eliminated VAM 6 (no date crack) & VAM 7 (no RIB doubling).

1878-P-8TF---VAM-14.5-?
1878-P-8TF---VAM-14.5-?
1878-P-8TF---VAM-14.5-?

Which leaves the good three left. Nostril looks open and there is a spiked A...thus leaving me with 14.5! If any other pictures are needed, please let me know and I'll get them taken and uploaded. Now I am no expert so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Interesting. The spike narrows it down to 7 and 14.5. However, I don't see the prominent date doubling which ought to be characteristic of 14.5, and I do not see the doubling of E and R-I-B which ought to be characteristic of 7.

Not sure what I'm looking at here.

cboyera,

That's a 14.5. Although you can't readily see the date doubling on this specimen, it's what you don't see that confirms it. As Dave said there are only two choices with that gouge through the A, VAM 7 or VAM 14.5. There are two unmistakeable pick-up points (PUPS) on the VAM 7 ... that doubling on the left of the E and the 7 in the date. Congrats, you got the better of the two.

Thanks SeatedNut! That is great news and what I was hoping for.

Not looking to sell it but always interested in value but logging purposes...what would this be worth in the VAM collector market?
