So first I will say that I'm aware Denver wasn't involved with Lincoln Cents at this period of time. Still, I thought it was worthy of mentioning as a what if. I thought the object "mintmark in question" was inside the first 9 in date. I thought that it had a strong outline of a D with the curve following at the end on the opposite side of number 9. Far fetched? Absolutely and I like it Lol!

Well, gotta admit - you have a good imagination. Looks like a combination of dirt or a small chip on the left side of the loop and a stain on the right side.

Thank you Mark I'd like to think I do from time to time Lol! Not trying to run this topic into the ground or anything but the stain you mentioned is raised which could be a few things of course. I will try to show an outline of what I think can be seen indented into the 9. Also, I will show what the reverse of the coin looks like in all its insanity. Kind of looks like a sketch pad haha!

Eyes are playing tricks on you. The area in question would be raised if that were the case. But the First 'M' mint mark was 1911-D for Lincoln cents.

If that may be paint on the reverse then soak it in pure acetone for about a half hour - it may just come off.

I knew it was a long shot but thanks for taking a look. Because it was the first year issue I thought Philadelphia might have given Denver a die to play around with, in case demand was through the roof, which it was. As for what is on the coin I have no idea. It is under the patina and acetone and verdicare have had no affect other than creating more grey to show. The clashing or strike error is what I think is cool even if it isn't one of those things.
Rest in Peace

I can certainly see why you would ask. Die chips give everyone headaches, particularly when they are close to the date or mint mark.
