Roger Casement was trialed and executed on August 3rd, 1916. He was found guilty of treason.
Casement was an Irishman who served as diplomat in the United Kingdom with Ireland occupied. During World War I, he tried to strike a deal with Germany in Germany to get weapons to Ireland, start an uproar and a war for independence from the UK, and thus causing the UK's attention to be divided between Ireland and Germany. It would be a win-win for both of them. However, the ship with weapons was intercepted, Casement arrested for treason and hanged. Casement was still on very friendly terms with Germans and, before being executed, he was highly honored, especially in Germany, and held several titles. He was even regarded as the father of modern human rights activism.
The year 1351 refers to the Treason Act signed by Edward III. According to some interpretation, especially used by the defense of Roger Casement, this act only applied to collaboration against the Britsh crown carried out on British soil, which would mean that it didn't apply to Casement, as this was planned abroad. Another interpretation of the law actually includes all other places, which means that just his collaboration with the Germans would see him hanged.
What you have here is a medal, not a coin, with German text, commemorating the hanging of Casement based on the law of 1351.
