I posted a while ago about my discovery of DDRs that feature doubling in between the stripes of the shield.

I recently found a very significant example on a 2012 cent, that may sway some of the people that were skeptical of these being doubled dies. Here are some pics:

There's some pretty strong doubling through the tops of the 6th and 7th stripe as well as doubling along the entire upper right half of the 6th stripe. You can see the doubling on the pic of the entire coin! I'm definitely sending this to Wexler next time I can.

That's amazing man! I truly think this is a DDR. I'll be excited to hear from John Wexler.

Very nice, Tanman.
I've been looking for these since your last batch came back. No luck yet, but still looking.
Rest in Peace

Well I'm the skeptical one. Are you 100% sure it's not just a die abrasion? A Polishing result? That's what it appears to me being along that point in the ridge there, easy to have dipped into the die detail there or is just plain a center high point wear abrasion. Not a DDR at all. More evidences should show up than just this one tiny area, Initials OK? What other central design features are affected?

Crazyb0, you have a good point, but take it easy on TanMan lol. Let's see what Mr. Wexler has to say about this. I also found the same thing as TanMan today CRH from the same year and doubling in the same spot. And no, I am not trying to hijack this thread.

I feel it is an unlisted DDR. You might want to get a few better images and send them to John Wexler to see if he is interested in it. There are only a few DDR's so far that year.

The affected area is deeper into the die, so die polishing doesn't affect that area of the die. Also the bottom of the area also shows some altered from the hubbing.

Remember the central areas of the die are affected more on the single squeeze dies. IE the bars on the 6 & 7 column bay areas on the Memorial cents. So when searching for DDR, don't forget the central areas of the reverses.

Here's the results from Wexler:

Coin #5 is 2012 1¢ WDDR-004 which is a new listing for my files.
