Hi Folks

I inherited from my Father two years ago alot of his coins that he had collected over a 50 year period. I have sold some to local dealers and kept some myself. I do however find I have a fairly nice coin which has suprised me to the range of valuations on various sites from £2000-£30000!!

The coin is a pretty nice example of a 1694 William and Mary two guinea I can add some pictures if needed. I just wanted to get some idea on values and where I would try to sell it.

I have found the local coin shops have wanted to steal it offering £2-3000 then saying they would jump up more if I sold it that second which concerned me.

I guess I just need some advice of what more experinced people like yourselfs think.

Thanks for reading and any comments back:)

If anyone can let me know what condition you would describe it as that would be great.

Thanks in advance:)

Sell it via London Coins or Baldwins.A sought after coin will reach its level.

VF British grading, the obverse seems as if it has been polished. That holds the value down somewhat.
Otherwise, a fairly attractive coin.

It would probably be more appreciated if it went through one of the London auction rooms.

Thank you for all the responces. I'm not sure if I will sell it yet as it was the coin that started my father collecting when he found it lying in the grass one day 50 years ago.

However if it is worth alot of cash it might be worth trying to sell as I have a Daughter about to go to university.

What London auction would you suggest to get the best return on?

Thank you all again.

My guess is that it would bring around 2,500 to 3,000 Pounds at auction in London.

If selling at a London auction, I would recommend Baldwins or Spink...
